Being a creative person since i was about 4, making models on google sketchup, over the past few years, has become abit of hobby of mine, eventually this made way into making models and rederings of theatres, ballrooms, houses, gardens, classical organs, cinema organs, opera houses, concert halls, cinemas, churches, and cathedrals. Ones computer is always a limitation on how much guts it has, so doing my best with what was available, here are a few of the many models i have made of the the past few years, not all of them complete thanks to the limitations of my computer!.

WOW!

It's a great privelege to see such talent! And imagination! There are one or two in that collection that I'm sure will be inspirations . . .

Working from the top down
- my own design
- Compton Paramount console. There were only 4 of these consoles made by compton for the paramount cinemas in Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham and Tottenham court road in london. http://www.scottishcinemas.org.uk/glasgow/picture.php?loc=odeon.html&filen=odeon_compton_console.jpg
-Based on an early style compton cinema organ console.
- Ideas taken from the 5/27 Moller touring organ, designed and used by Reginald Foort. http://theatreorgans.com/southerncross/radiogram/Moller.jpg
- My best attempt, using only the few photographs I have, of the 5/17 Compton at the ODEON, Liecester Square http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3299/3515551226_3f6c55a73a.jpg
- based on the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool Winter Gardens - http://lh5.ggpht.com/_D6MU4cnkMbI/SCjaDgtyvGI/AAAAAAAABfc/kN4Ff0f6rWg/s640/Blackpool%20011.jpg
- As near as I could get to replicating the Atlantic City Convention Hall, in its original form, unlike the photgraph in the link which shows it with the new seating bowl http://www.bizbash.com/content/editorial/StoryPhoto/big/e17509image2.jpg
-from my imagination!
- From my imagination again, though, the console does have a basis on the Atlantic city Midmer Losh and the Wanamaker organ
- based on the New York Roxy Kimball Organs main console (it had 3, one 5 manual console, and two 3 manual consoles, which could be played at the same time!) http://www.organservice.com/images/kimball/roxy.JPG
and the remaining 3 are from my imagination again!

Hi!

What you have done is really brilliant. Do you do something like this professionally? It's great to see people's talent and this is a forum where talent is encouraged and not suppressed - so please go on posting . . . even if not asked. You never know what it might lead to . . . but certainly what it will lead to is interest in organs.

Perhaps you might do a series of posts, one for each organ, or venue, and then when the search engines pick up your posts relating to individual organs, other people might then contribute information about those organs.

It would be great to see other people showcasing their work elsewhere on the site too . . .

Best wishes

Well done, these were so good to see. You mentioned the Compton in Birmingham, I used to help tune this with Jack Ivey, it was an impressive instrument, what was the fate of it?

The Birmingham paramount/odeon compton was bought by the organist ( who happens to be a gd friend of mine), Steve Tovey, when odeon decided to split the cinema into a multiscreen. After having nowhere to install it, it was sold, and has managed to work its way to the Penistone Paramount cinema, in Penistone!
