International Symposium on the importance & future of the organ Sept 8-11 Zurich

The Symposium's goal is to give impulses on different levels and   challenge academic institutions, churches, politics and the general   public to take responsibility on preserving and promoting the cultural   value of the organ.
Promoting and supporting upcoming talents and the   passing on of this cultural value to children and adolescents will   receive special attention.

Target audience are specialists from   all over Europe active in the fields of organ building, organ playing,   teaching (teachers and students), music management and people in   managing positions in churches, politics and cultural institutions.

Through   organ demonstrations, concerts and ,,organ walks" through Zurich, this   Symposium also addresses the broad public in Zurich as well as the   media.

The objective of the symposium is to draw attention to the importance of the organ in European Culture and, through publicity, promote the training of young organists and to raise awareness of the organ in the general public.

On the Publication of Reports addressing the Organ Situation in all European Countries
Dr. Markus Funck - Situation in the Baltic States, Külli Erikson - Situation in Portugal, Prof. Dr. João Vaz - Situation in Belgium, Prof. Dr. Jean Ferrard . . . There will be a Zurich organ crawl and there will be worlod premi8eres of new works at a concert in Grossmunster.
