LE ROY — As part of the ongoing Le Roy Presbyterian Church 200th anniversary celebration, a progressive pipe organ concert is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Palm Sunday, April 1.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will showcase the pipe organs of the Episcopal, Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian Churches of Le Roy.

Each presentation of pipe organ selections will last about 20 minutes, with 10 minutes for travel to the next venue. Concert-goers will gather at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, East Main Street, at 2 p.m. for a concert by Dennis Mellander, church organist, and then travel across Church Street to the First Baptist Church to hear Dr. Roy Clare playing the Baptist pipe organ. He will be joined by Vicki Ball, harpist, from Calvary Baptist Church.

The next stop on the tour will be about 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Le Roy across Trigon Park next to the Community Auditorium and School, where guest organist, David Curtis, will perform on the Methodist pipe organ.

Participants may then walk or drive to the final venue at the First Presbyterian Church, Main & Clay Streets, where church organist Henry Emmans will present his musical selections on the Presbyterian pipe organ. Refreshments will follow in Olmsted Hall of the church.

The first three churches are within easy walking distance of one another. Parking for the first three concerts will be available in the Episcopalian, Baptist, and Methodist church parking lots or guests may use on-street parking. Parking for the Presbyterian concert is available on-street or in the Village Hall parking lot behind the Fire Department.

The objective is to reach human immortality—that is, to create things which are necessary to mankind, necessary to the purpose of the existence of mankind, and which have become the fruit that drives the creation of a higher state of mankind than ever existed before."

Barrie Davis

What an excellent idea, this could be done very easily here, it may well get more people interested in the instrument.
