Being played by Hector Olivera... Instrument in question is installed in a church, this would be its dedicatory recital...

QuoteOrganist Hector Olivera will present a recital at 4 p.m. Sun., June 11 the Church of the Epiphany, 5450 Churchwood Drive, Oak Park.

The recital, which will feature a variety of musical styles, is to dedicate the church's new Roland Classic C-330 organ, which was donated by a church member.

The C-330 organ was originally conceived and developed by Olivera to emulate the sounds of great organs of various national traditions and style periods from around the world.

Born in Buenos Aires, Olivera began playing the pipe organ when he was 3 and entered the Buenos Aires Conservatory at age 6. At age 12 he attended the Unversity of Buenos Aires.

He moved to the United States when offered a scholarship to attend the Juillard School of Music in New York, and his professional concert career was launched when he won the American Guild of Organists' National Improvisation Contest.

So... Another Julliard graduate "assisting" in the development of "non-pipe" organs ??? ??? ???

QuoteOlivera has performed at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, London's Royal Albert Hall, Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, the Olympic Games and Classical Newport Music Festival. He has performed solo concerts and as guest soloist with orchestras throughout the world.

Advance tickets, available only by mail, are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $7 for students. For tickets, mail a check made payable to The Church of the Epiphany (memo "Olivera") to the church address above (ZIP code 91377). Pre-paid tickets will be held for pickup at Will Call at the church until 3:40 p.m. the day of performance, then made available for standby. Free child care will be provided.

For more information, call (818) 991-4797.

Oddly enough, the number of "dedicatory recitals" on purely electronic instruments which get reported on news outlets or websites, blogs, etc... are, when compared to purely pipe or pipe/electronic hybrids... whether new or restored/repaired/rehoused, almost statistically insignificant :o ??? 8)  This one is likely the second  or third such announcement in one years' data-mining, using the Google Alerts device with "pipe organ" as a search term.
