Albert Keates was, I understand, trained by Abbott & Smith, another very fine Yorkshire firm, and his head reed voicer was a chap called Schulze... his instruments are known for battleship build quality and very fine voicing. One of his biggest organs, a 3-manual, 31-stop job of 1909, is up for grabs as "complete or for scrap" - it's in the Mount Zion church on Chatsworth Road in Brampton, Derbyshire. It's reckoned to be in need of restoration, but would really be worth it when finished. The late Julian Rhodes played it - and wrote about it - but, sadly, his now-moved website's subpages are all just 404s. I seem to remember it said that the instrument was in pretty poor shape, but gave echoes of a once superb sound.
