I am of the mind that similar programs could be used to promote the Organ elsewhere ;)

If visiting Germany is on your to-do list, or if you love great music, enjoy a good story or have always wanted to see an organist's hands and feet fly over the keyboards and pedals of a pipe organ, consider attending the music and multimedia performance of "Bach & Sons."

The Christ Church Concert Series will present "Bach & Sons" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church, 15th and H streets in Eureka.

Dr. Jeannine Jordan, concert organist, and David Jordan, media artist, will perform a multimedia organ concert celebrating the life of Johann Sebastian Bach and his sons.

As a unique touch, the program is narrated by women who were important in the lives of these great composers.

The suggested donation at the door is $15 per individual or $25 per family.

The performers will lead the audience on a journey that begins at the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach and follows his life through its challenges and triumphs. The use of live camera feeds projected on a cinematic screen will enable each audience member to have a "front row" seat. The event is more than an organ concert as the audience travels with Bach and his sons through the trials and tribulations of their lives.

The concert will introduce the audience to the organ music of Johann Sebastian Bach as it evolved through his entire life and to the music of his sons, lesser-known composers but still important in their own right.

Listeners will hear what he played in churches, composed in the courts and performed in the coffeehouses of Leipzig, Germany. The visual media help bring to life the people and the places that were so important in the lives of the Bach family.

Jeannine Jordan is a champion of the organ and its music. She has traveled through the United States and the world promoting and sharing organ music through her concerts, church music ministry, workshops and teaching. She is also the president and founder of Pro-Motion Music, a company celebrating the world of the organ with its concerts, organ and media events, publications and teaching studios.

She is married to David Jordan, musician and media artist. They make their home on the Oregon coast.

Jordan has released eight CDs: "Bach and Sons" recorded on historic organs of Germany; "From Sea to Shining Sea" recorded on historic American organs; "Music of the Fright" and "O Beautiful for Spacious Skies" with David Jordan, keyboardist; "25th Anniversary Concert Favorites"; and three CDs of music for the trumpet and organ combination, "Christmas Memories," "Thine is the Glory" and "Bravo! Baroque!"

The Jordans have also released their "From Sea to Shining Sea" event on DVD.

The Christ Church Concert Series provides community concerts designed to feature the 31-rank American-style pipe organ, built and installed by Kegg Pipe Organ Builders in 2008. Each year, the concert series features an international concert artist, a well-known regional artist, the popular Rhododendron Festival Concert in April, the "Sundays at 4" concerts by local musicians, a "Monster Mash" concert for Halloween and a Messiah Sing-Along in December (begun in 2010).
