Hi,
I saw this video mentioned on one of the music lists I am on and thought I would post it here and see what everyone thought.

I have always thought you would play the Harpsichord sitting down, but there must be more to things than I realized .....

Hi
I've heard somewhere that Harpsichords were sometimes played standing. Can't remember where though.

Hi!
That's certainly the case with William Mitchell's Claviorganum.

But the instruments at the V&A are certainly ones to be seated at . . .

Thinking of which, what's happening to the V&A collection? You couldn't, by any chance, persuade them to put them into "storage" at a certain large house in East Sussex, could you? ;)
Hi
Or at a certain church in Yorkshire!

Indeed! But Hammerwood is a bit closer to the V&A ;D
Hi,
I think that some of the instruments were going to be on show at the Horniman Museum in Forrest Hill. But they didn't seem to have much space to be able to display them when I last visited.
regards Peter B
Forest Hill REALLY isn't far from Hammerwood! ;D

Sorry - you're confused with Forest Row. Forest Hill is part of the metropolis . .

:-) Don't worry - I'll ask ForumAdmin to remove the posts if you like . . .
But in the meantime . . . "WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE V&A INSTRUMENTS" is a serious question.
Hope someone can enlighten us
Best wishes

David, why do you continue to pretend that "organforumadmin" isn't you? ;D
