Tonight (Friday), a potage and pudding evening with entertainment is to be held at Church House, Tenby, beginning at 7 pm.
This exciting event, organised by ladies of the congregation, is being held in aid of the St. Mary's Church Organ Fund and promises to be both nourishing and fun.
The historic pipe organ at St. Mary's Church, Tenby, was built in 1869, 142 years ago.
It underwent a makeover in 1990, restoring its original sound and giving it a new lease of life.
Fundraising has begun in the parish in order to safeguard the long term future of the organ.
A very successful coffee morning, organised by St. Mary's Mothers' Union, was held last month and a variety of further events are planned for the coming months.
During Lent next year, it is hoped to reinstate the rear section of the organ, containing 42 original pipes.
Other repair work and specialist cleaning will be required from time to time.
The current value of the organ runs to around £1 million, quite a hike from the original cost of £570!
For 142 years, the magnificent sound of the organ has been enjoyed by thousands upon thousands of worshippers, visitors and music lovers at St. Mary's.
It is hoped that future generations will have the opportunity to do likewise and all members of the community are warmly invited to support the ongoing events and make the organ appeal the success it deserves to be.
