FOR SALE and WANTED / bits and bobs.
July 02, 2014, 07:31:16 PM
I've started building a midi console, and was wondering if anyone had any of the following lying around.
Music desk hooks, thumb pistons, bench and a r/c pedal board.
I might think of other bits as I go along, but those seem to be the ones i'm struggling with.
regards,
Matt.

Organs wanted / Digital wanted for home practice
December 10, 2013, 11:36:46 AM
Hi.

Sorry to have been away from the forum for so long, life has been hectic this year. Suffice to say that I now find myself living on my own in what was previously our family home. Whilst I am going to continue to build the house pipe organ, I would also like something to 'plug in and play', so if anyone knows of a cheap electronic that's up for grabs could you let me know please.

Regards,
Matt.

Organ building and maintenance / Leather!!
May 19, 2013, 04:19:42 PM
Hi

I'm getting on with the house organ, and the next big challenge is the windchest.  Has anyone any idea as to what kind of leather organ builders are using for the pallets these days? Is it still the white sheepskin or is there a modern substitute? And where does one go about getting the correct grade?  I also need to know what kind of glue to use, is it still the traditional hide glue or would something like Evostick be suitable?

Thanks
Matt.

House Organs / House organ started!
March 30, 2013, 03:08:46 PM
Hi.
As I mentioned in a previous thread, I have finally started building my house organ. I've set up an account on twitter to record progress @The_Organ_Loft if anyone is interested in following. So far I've only made a dozen or so pipes for the 4' rank, but am making steady progress and am pleased with the results so far.

Regards,
Matt.

Hi

I've finally started work on my house organ. Most of the parts I'll be making myself, but I cannot imagine the work involved in making the keyboards and pedalboard (although I do have some rough drawings done!). If anyone has any kicking around and wants to see them used please get in touch.

Regards,
Matt.

Hi!
Hi

The ageing toaster at the church where I play has finally started to show the signs of it's 30 odd years.  I've been asked to look at options to update\replace it.

Obviously my goal is to get a pipe organ installed.

So, has anybody got any advice on the financial side of this. Being as the Methodist Church is besotted with committees I am well aware that I will most likely be called on to explain my intentions, and it would be helpful if anyone had a set of projected costs of maintaining both electronic and pipe organs for comparison. My suspicion is that a good pipe organ could be made to pay for itself, but any arguments I could use would be helpful.

Any other advice gladly received!
Matt
