Organ Music and Repertoire / Re: Elgar and the organ
December 01, 2011, 01:52:46 PM
yet in sleuthing around, I have not seen any reference to Sir Edward Elgar. Comments, gentlemen?

Say what you will about the Elgar Sonata in G, yet I find it more difficult than the Reubke. Of course I'm biased, but the piece seems -in general- very underrated amongst Americans.

Cheers,

Organ Music and Repertoire / Re: Leo Delibes
December 01, 2011, 01:46:42 PM
this is great but  it seems that his music is becoming less and less performed in concert halls and this is a shame, because his music is just fantastic. Delibes was also an influence on Debussy as well, which there was a movement from one of his ballets I believe it was "Sylvia" where it sounds like Debussy...no kidding. Perhaps Delibes was much more radical than we give him credit for.

Electronic Organs / Sampler problems
December 01, 2011, 01:42:36 PM
I have come across two issues since upgrading to Finale 2010a & GPO 4 - both relating to the pipe organ:
1.   In the Kontakt interface you could "tune" the stop to raise or lower it's range; ie. taking the 8' flutes down an octave to create a 16' pedal.  I haven't been able to discover how to do that w/ the Aria interface.
2.   I'm finding the organ is not responding to dynamic expressions during playback - everything seems to playback @ about a mf.  I've tried deleting continuous data, etc. as well as deleting and reinserting the expressions to no avail.
Anyone else run across these issues?  Any advice?  Thanks.
