Organs in danger / 3m 1866 Bevington
June 09, 2013, 10:13:04 PM
http://www.npor.org.uk/cgi-bin/Rsearch.cgi?Fn=Rsearch&rec_index=G01640

This organ was to have been exported to Australia by Mark Fisher a few years ago, but in the event, that wasn't possible.

I understand that the church building has now been sold, and accordingly a new home is needed for this historic organ.

Very little of the work that has been done to the organ over the years has changed its original character, and Mark, who has done very significant research into Bevington, was very impressed with it.

Are there any other Bevington enthusiasts out there who might be interested?

Due to a change in circumstances, I am thinking of selling my Hauptwerk set up which I only bought a few months ago.

The computer, Keyboard stack and pedalboard have hardly been used, and it comes with the Advanced edition of Hauptwerk 4

Computer type: 'Elite Performance 64bit' by www.millennium-music.co.uk

    Board and Processor :-
    (a) 'ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo' and 'Quad Core Q9650 3.0ghz 12mb'.
    (b) Cooling Block = 'Noctua NH-12 Pro 12cm (cube) heatpipe Cooler'
    (c) 2 separate boards of '4GB ddr2 1066' boards are fitted (8 GB of memory).

3 Hard drives are fitted :-
    (a) Two identical 500GB Serial ATA 7200rpm 16mb cache
    (b) A 300GB Velociraptor SATA 10,000 rpm 16mb cache

DVD-RW Dual layer DVD+R 18times enables you to put your recordings on CD.

    Soundcard :-

M-Audio 1010 LT which runs fine on 64bit. The card comes complete with 2 seperate cable bundles of very high quality, one Audio and one, MIDI related.

Windows Version = Windows VISTA ULTIMATE 64bit

Console: 3 Manual stack by www.Johnsorganworks.co.uk

MIDI Sequencer: built in the pc

Classic Organ Works 32 note midi pedalboard

We used it for our summer conference ( www.summerconference.org ) and I was frankly amazed at the way it supported a large congregation singing in full voice, even with a very amateur speaker arrangement.

I bought the keyboard stack new a few months back for over £600, while the pc and pedalboard were secondhand, neither had ever been used. The pc was £1750 and the pedalboard around £1,000.

I'm not sure what the arrangement is for passing on the Hauptwerk programme, but that costs about £350.

That's almost £4,000 worth, so I would hope to get £2,000 for it.

Any suggestions?

Organs in danger / Trinity Methodist Church, Workington
September 03, 2012, 12:56:35 PM
http://www.npor.org.uk/cgi-bin/Rsearch.cgi?Fn=Rsearch&rec_index=G00801   Does anyone know of the fate of this organ?

Apparently the church was due to close a few years ago, the congregation merging with the congregation across the road. I understand that the organ is still in situ, and a series of photographs can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/28652222@N03/2674644553/in/photostream/

The above chapel is due to close, so the pneumatic organ is in danger.

Its not on the NPOR, but there are a couple of pictures on http://www.go-organbuilders.org.uk/project/?Colne-Independant-Methodist-26

The stop tabs look like Blackett and Howden, although I understand it is Conacher. Maybe rebuilt at some stage by B+H?

The magnificent 2 manual organ at the former Hope Calvinistic Methodist Chapel (Welsh Presbyterian) in Merthyr Tydfil, http://www.jlb2011.co.uk/walespic/churches/merthyr-tydfil3.htm is shortly to be dismantled and moved to Germany.

Not listed on the NPOR, pictures of the organ are available at www.thatminidotcom.picturepush.com , under the file 'Merthyr'.

Those who are familiar with chapel organs will appreciate that its specification is more comprehensive than often is found, and it is voiced to support the robust singing of a large Welsh congregation.

Although it is pneumatic action, often the death knell of a redundant organ of this sort, the quality of this beautiful instrument attracted the attention of someone with the means and ability to rescue it, just weeks before it was due to be removed for parts/scrap, the new owners of the building having need of the space it occupies  :-X

I heard that this organ is soon to be thrown out, along with its historic organ certificate...

Anyone care to rescue it?

The NPOR states that this organ was exported to Portugal  in 2009, however it is still in situ.

The church has been sold and the developer is ready to start work. Is any one interested in this 2m 1935 Osmond organ?

A young organist in Australia who wants his music to be "a direct link for listeners, from the King of Instruments to the King of Kings".   :)

Restored and rebuilt by James Collier, this lovely organ now resides at a church in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The pedalboard, a later addition, has been removed.

Large scale 2m Norman and Beard in South Wales. I don't have the spec but its likely to be 16, 16 and 8 on Pedal, Great Diapasons 1 and 2, Dulciana, 8 and 4 Flutes, 4' Principal , 2' Fifteenth. There is an 8' Tromba aswell. The Swell goes up to 3 rank mixture, with Oboe and Horn at 8'.

Lovers of this type of organ will appreciate the all embracing warmth of the Diapason Chorus, the penetrating 16' Open Wood, beautiful strings and well voiced reeds.

I believe the action is all pneumatic.

The church want to get rid of it to make 'better' use of the space.

Organs in danger / Brindley and Foster 2m for sale

http://www.npor.org.uk/cgi-bin/Rsearch.cgi?Fn=Rsearch&rec_index=P00733

The new owner of the chapel advises me that:-

"the organ is still there, it is up for sale if you know anybody who wants it. The organist still goes in twice a week to play it as i also agree with it is a beautiful instrument"
