In case you haven't already gotten all these, here's the Britten

http://www.organlibrary.org/music-sales/music-sales-composers/

Watch that page for the others, create and save searches for them in Ebay and note the 'save this search' link. Write publishers and ask them to reissue. Write performers and ask if they know where to purchase -- searching these items almost exclusively brings up recordings, huh.

Organs in danger / Re: ORGAN STOPS - saving the K...
Last post by Alexg - June 12, 2021, 09:53:12 PM
Hello all, I am new to the forum and have been looking through previous discussions with interest.

When will the full version of "ORGAN STOPS - saving the king of instruments" be available?

Best wishes from London,

Alex

The problem for the EOCS (Electronic Organ Constructors Society) is that the membership is dominated by folk of my age (70+) who are probably the last generation who actually used a soldering iron and built complicated things for themselves.   We used to add contacts to a keyboard, now you can buy a midi controller keyboard for £60 or so.  We used to build electronics to generate the frequencies and tones, now everyone just downloads and uses someone else's software package with real samples and the result is infinitely better.  It has never been easier for keen amateurs to put together a "Virtual Organ" that can fit into any home.  The EOCS knows this, but it must reach out to music schools, promote the late Carlo Curly, the current Cameron Carpenter and maybe a lot of other less showy professionals.  With the dwindling church membership, something must be done to make the young want to play organs.

Electronic Organs / Good news for Hauptwerk Organi...
Last post by kaspencer - June 08, 2021, 11:30:13 PM
Good afternoon all.

If you would like electronic labels on your Hauptwerk Organs I am glad to say that the process has now been made much easier.
I can now supply a Core Kit of Components and a detailed Constuction Manual which will enable the majority of users to add these
labels to their Hauptwerk Console.

The Core Kit comprises:

- professional quality laser cut Left & Right Stop Plates in Black Acrylic or Quality Beech Ply;

- especially designed Printed Circuit Boards.
  Three PCBs in Left & Right Stop Jambs permit 120 stops to be labelled.
  Smaller jambs can be built using only one (for 20 labels) or two for 40 labels) PCBs per Jamb;

- a Micro-controller + Propietary Software in each Jamb drive the labels on completion of an organ loading;

- the Construction Manual may be purchased with the Kit, or separately, to allow a full assessment of what
  is involved in the project.

I am able to supply almost all of the other components if required, but the lead times and availability of some of them is
outside my control. All of the other components can be purchased online from many sources, and full specifications are
included.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Questions of Temperament / Arciorgano
Last post by revtonynewnham - May 20, 2021, 09:08:07 AM
Hi

I came across this on You Tube this morning.  An interesting solution to tuning problems or a nightmare to play?  There is another video explaining the instrument, but my language skills aren't up to understanding what was being said!

Hi

Looks like they've reinvented the "Nags Head" swell box!

Thanks, I think it will be interested in seeing how this organ will be used when it is completed.

I had also came across another modular pipe organ under construction called L'Orgue Gulliver. It has a rather interesting swell box for the trumpet rank.

The other day I went to tune a piano for a friend who has a lovely Steinway. Many of my friends enjoy a wide taste in music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sb6pt3OvU_o but this particular friend is passionate about French Baroque - and it works on the instruments I tune - https://youtu.be/4dCQyD57e9M

The instrument had been played every day for 18 months and particularly in lockdown and the hammers were worn flat, so flat that I re-shaped them as they should be and perhaps the recording might sound smoother as a result.

Best wishes

Inspirational instruments / A New Modular Pipe Organ
Last post by Moretti Candotti - May 10, 2021, 09:38:20 AM
I recently stumbled across a post on the Toulouse les Orgues Facebook page about a proposal for a new portable pipe organ called L'orgue L'Explorarateur. The organ will have a modular design (similar to the Orgue du Voyage), and will consist of 30 stops derived from 12 ranks of pipes. The construction of this organ is intended to begin later this the year, and should be completed by next year.
