Title: A Quiz
Post by: revtonynewnham on August 07, 2011, 04:50:02 PM
This is just for fun - no prizes.  We're currently doing a series at church looking at Biblical characters - this morning our subject was Noah, so I used a little quiz to start with.  See how many answers you get right - preferably without looking it up!  There is one trick question, and one real stinker.

1.  How many sheep did Noah take into the Ark?
2. How many pigs did Noah take into the Ark?
3. How long did it rain for?
4. How long in total did Noah spend in the Ark?
5. How many sheep did Moses take into the Ark?

Have fun - I'll post the correct answers tomorrow (if I remember).

Every Blessing

I was about to post a reply because there was a missing question (number 4) as originally posted.  However I see Tony has now edited his post as I write.

Nevertheless, I will still say what I was going to say, which is this?

WHAT ON EARTH HAS ANY OF THIS TO DO WITH ORGANS?

I think I'll probably be on my way out as well shortly, but might stick around for a bit longer to enjoy the final death throes.

Dear Tony

As Forum Admin it's a pleasure to host such posts as this and hope that you may post many more as you prepare for your Sunday services.

The reason in particular for this is that many seeking assistance on such topics may well find such posts and discover the organ (in places where organs ought to be but are in fact endangered), to be more interesting than formerly they might have thought it to be.

Positive people always add collectively but negative people only destroy themselves in negativity, as numbers below zero don't exist.

As to the quiz . . . one might assume the obvious as to the number of sheep and pigs . . . and the number of days might have been later associated with St Swithun . . . Number 4 worries me whilst number 5 sends the mental computer into apoplexy . . .

I wonder how much the answers will catch people out?

Best wishes

Hi

Sorry if offends some - it's meant as a bit of lighthearted fun.

Answers are (in order)
1. Seven (sheep are clean animals - that usually catches some out
2. Two
3. 40 days
4. That depends on how you deal with the various time periods mentioned in Genesis - i.e. do any overlap withothers?  Somewhere around 1 year plus a little is probably about right.
5. obviously a trick question!  It's amazing how many people say 7 because they hear what's gone before and not what's actually been said.

Now back to organs!

Every Blessing

I'm confused.

Genesis 6:19 says two of every kind of animal. Presumably one pair.

Genesis 7:2 says seven of every clean animal (or should that be seven pairs) and a pair of every unclean animal.

But wasn't the definition of clean and unclean animals first given rather a long time later, by the Lord to Moses in in Leviticus chapter 11?

Hi

Good point - presumably the Exodus definition was known, if not codified, earlier - or maybe it's the writer using a later description to clarify things?  One of the mysteries of the Bible.  No doubt the theologians have various theories to account for it.
