Thanks David and Tony for your answers. I'll contact Leicester Cathedral to ask if the replay system is still up and running and whether they use still use it. The reason I am curious is that here in Hungary the income from visitor donations to cathedrals increases significantly if there is 'live' organ music playing. There is a vast difference in quality between speakers playing and the original pipes and visitors appreciate that and a system which can replay recorded music generates a significant income for the church it is installed in.
For me it would be logical for a parish to utilise this option if it is commonly available and but I haven't experienced this in the UK. Maybe I have, but I though it was the organist playing ;-)
I'm not really interested in small home organs but modern or renovated pipe organs which are installed in cathedrals or churches.
