This, too was on ebay.  Not sure if it sold or the listing ended.  It's in Totnes, in Devon.

Electronic Organs / Norwich Organ
« on: November 22, 2018, 11:26:13 AM »
Having recently moved into a modern house, I have had to sell my pipe organ - to a very good new home - and have acquired an old analogue Norwich Series 70 in a lovely drawstop console as a home practice organ.  I now have it all set up and working - thanks to Martin Russell from Eminent UK who sourced this for me and helped with a minor power supply repair).

I wonder whether anyone knows whether it's possible to adjust the output volume of the Great and Pedal - for the benefit of my neighbours - and, if so, how to do it.

Thank you.  I now have a buyer, subject, as they say, to completion.

A plug for this, please.  It absolutely won't fit into my new house.  As I'm moving very soon it will need to be dismantled for storage this week.

Sadly, I fear that downsizing is looming and I shall need to part with my beautiful Aeolian/Grant Degens & Rippin house organ as it won't fit into a modern property. I bought the organ seven years ago from a world-renowned Organist via this group. It consists of 5 ranks extended to provide full choruses on Great, Swell and Pedal. No reeds. Completely unenclosed. Discus blower. Can be arranged in many different formats to suit available space. The main windchest unit is about 7' long and the pipes fit under a normal ceiling. Very gently voiced for household use. Located in Somerset, near Taunton., England. Open to sensible offers.   Help with dismantling and moving possible.

This is an organ of, essentially, five ranks:
A - Principal 4ʼ (becomes 8ʼ with bass from B)
B - Stopped Flute 8
C - Dulciana 4ʼ (becomes * with bass from B - originally 16ʼ)
D - Tierce 1 3/5
E - Bourdon 16ʼ
Organ builders:-
Circa 1920 - Aeolian Orchestrelle Company
Circa 1948 - ? Davies of Northampton
Circa 1960 - Grant Degens (&Rippin)
Circa 1980 - Roger Taylor
1994 - Principal Pipe Organs
2010 - Principal Pipe Organs
2011 - Paul Derrett, Nigel Parkin & Philip Knighton

Not long to go and still no bids.  We need to be watchful if it isn't sold - might they ditch it and say it was sold on ebay?

Very sad.  This is happening FAR too often.  Either a church closing down or an attack by the Happy-Clappy brigade.

Sounds a good plan.  You might contact David Mason at Viscount.  He has a lot of secondhand stuff in his showrooms.

Organs on eBay or for urgent sale / Re: 2-M+P organ in the Kettering area

I hope and pray that he does go - for the good of the parish.  I met one lady from the parish - a warden, I think, who came to a Mass at our church when the Bishop of Ebbsfleet was celebrating.  She spent a long time talking to him privately about the situation.  I don't know the outcome.  The little organ there would be far better that the jukebox they've installed - and it could, perhaps be made back into a two-manual if space allows.

This little organ is one of several on Ebay at the moment.  I hope it finds a good home.

I think many people wish you WERE still there, Fr Otto.  The organ in your former church is no longer used and they have replaced it with a music box.  I enquired about the post some months ago and was told that they don't want an organist.  I understand that the Anglo-Catholic tradition is also under attack.

Very sad.

Thank you - that sounds a good way to go.  Can I ask you to contact the man who is fronting the campaign to save the organ, Jonathan Humbert, via this FB page.  Message me if you can't get hold of him.

A triumph of ignorance over common sense - and another triumph of 'Jimmy Shand and His Band' over traditional worship.

Sadly, we have learned today, that the Diocese of St Albans have granted Faculty permission to the PCC to remove the pipe organ and replace it with an electronic substitute.  If anyone knows of a potential home for this fine instrument, please speak before it is too late.

Sadly, I can't make the conference.  However, you may have seen the link I posted a few days ago to the campaign to save the organ in St Paul's, St Albans.  As a result of this campaign, a few of us are looking at the feasibility of forming a group aimed at the preservation of organs in churches - campaigning for their retention and use - and also the he-homing of organs which are 'redundant'.  It would be a charitable trust and would hope to work with BIOS and other interested parties.  Watch this space.

Also worth following the campaign to fight the decision of the HTB evangelicals to ban classical musicians from the Musician's Church, St Sep's in London.  Close links between the campaigns and also worth noting the current resurgence in Choral Evensong.

Many green shoots amongst the devastation wrought by the happy clappy brigade.

Jonathan Humbert has alerted people to the fact that the PCC of this church - which has been taken over by the evangelical wing of the CofE is applying for a Faculty to remove this organ.  It is a 2-manual and pedal organ, originally by Speechly, but said to incorporate work by G.P. England and also stops said to have been played by Attwood.  There is a facebook group campaigning for it's retention.  Please read and consider writing a letter of objection to the faculty application BEFORE 5th September.
